About Japan Airlines
Japan Airlines which is popularly known as JAL is the national carrier of Japan with headquarters in Tokyo. JAL group thus owns Japan Airlines, J-Air, Japan Air Commuter, Japan Transocean Air & JAL Cargo. Though its foundation was laid in 1951, it became a national carrier by 1953. The very first of the Japan airline reservations was a scheduled international service from Tokyo to San Francisco.
Three decades and a couple of expansions later, JAL became completely privatised by 1987. In the early 2000s, it further merged with Japan Air System and emerged as the sixth largest airline in the world.
after post merger, both the companies worked under the JAL brand - Japan Airlines International operating all international routes whereas Japan Airlines Domestic managing the vast and extensive network of domestic flights.
