About Lufthansa Airlines
The history of Lufthansa Airlines is nothing less than eventful. It was the post-war era around 1950 that laid the foundation of the airlines. Though the original Lufthansa was operational since 1926. With the purchase of the first Boeing B707 in1960, Lufthansa entered the era of the jet plane.
Following this expansion, a decade of crises, but also of progress, followed. First, there was the 1973 and 1979 oil crises, which caused jet fuel prices to skyrocket. Simultaneously, it ushered in a new understanding of resource management, propelling the production of more fuel-efficient and quieter jet engines forward. The year 1986 marked the training of the first two female pilots.
The Lufthansa Group is a global airline with operations all over the world. The segments Network Airlines, Eurowings, and Aviation Services make up the business. The segments Logistics, MRO, Catering, and Additional Businesses and Group Functions make up Aviation Services. Lufthansa AirPlus, Lufthansa Aviation Training, and the IT companies are among the above. All segments are at the top of the chart.
Lufthansa Airlines when combined with its subsidiaries like Swiss Airlines, Germanwings, etc is one of the largest airlines of Europe with a fleet size of 656 aircraft with 267 aircrafts belonging to Lufthansa only.
